During this 2 hour workshop you will try your hand at carving a beautiful hand made porcelain plate. This technique, known as sgraffito, involves using various tools to scratch away a surface layer of black slip, revealing the white porcelain beneath.

Throughout the session you will have the chance to draw out your ideas and practice using the tools, before carving your design onto a chosen plate. Once complete you will leave your plates to dry so that I can apply a layer of food safe glaze and fire them in my kiln, making them food and dishwasher safe. They will then be available for collection from my studio within 2 weeks (I can also post them for a small fee).

This is a relaxed and meditative workshop for 8 people, think candlelight and soft music, which requires no previous artistic experience. Feel free to bring something lovely to drink, I will provide a wine fridge and glasses.

My studio is based within historical Stag Works, which is home to lots of other independent business's including Lovely Rita's Bakehouse (you have to try their snickers croissant) and Poco (best margarita ever) so there's plenty to do before and after your class.

Due to the fragile nature of the plates this class is not recommended for young children.

All equipment and materials will be provided.

I have two very friendly senior rescue dogs who come to the studio with me - please let me know during booking if you'd prefer that I leave them home that day!
