Sgraffito Plate Workshop
Sgraffito Plate Workshop
As part of the Stag Works Open Day, I'll be opening my doors from 11am - 6pm on Saturday October 26th.
This is a relaxed drop in workshop suitable for beginners, where you will be able to try your hand at carving a pre made porcelain plate. This technique, known as sgraffito, involves using various tools to scratch away a surface layer of black slip to reveal the white porcelain beneath. You will have the chance to draw out your design and practice using the tools before etching your own pattern onto your chosen plate. Once complete I will apply a layer of food safe glaze and fire your plates. They will then be available for collection from my studio.
There are two sizes of plates available to choose between. The small is a cute catch-all size perfect for jewellery and keys. The large is a more substantial size, perfect for a slice of cake.
Small - approx 18cm diameter
Large - approx 26cm diameter
PLEASE NOTE - there will be space for 14 people to work at one time but at busy times there may be a slight wait, which can be easily filled by grabbing a delicious pastry in Lovely Rita's or an expertly crafted cocktail in Poco.
Due to the fragile nature of the plates this class is not recommended for young children.
All equipment and materials will be provided.
